both are good field and very connected to each other for example if you are going for software it means you are going to join an IT company in which you will work and all the expenses which will company bear for your will be maintain in accounts section on the other side in same company you are as an accountant then you will need IT person to help you to maintain your records.
so both are good and growing sector but the matter is your area, your strength & your mind make up which will help you to take good decision.

Adding some more bits to what Abhinav has answered :
1. Try your best to get your engineering degree from a reputed institute. Unfortunately, your salary package and placements opportunity increases exponentially with the reputation of your college rather than your talent.
2. If you want to get into software development, then develop a good command on any one popular programming language.
3. Apart from having command over a programming language, first try to develop a strong understanding of logic building .
4. And lastly, try to develop some interpersonal skills.
I think that's all you need to be on track of having a good software engineer career.
