Basic eligibility to apply for PhD is:
Aspirants must have Masters degree in the relevant discipline with a first class or a minimum of 60% marks or a C.P.I. of 6.5 or equivalent.
After graduation one cannot apply for PhD as it does not fulfill the minimum eligibility required for it.
So if you are interested to do PhD in mechanical engineering, you should have a master degree in it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
All the best!

Mansi, I am not sure how good you are with maths and programming. If you are, then you must pick up a language whether PHP/ HTML5 (web dev), .Net (for software dev) Java/ Android (for apps) or C#/ Unity (for games). However like i mentioned, you must be good with programming to move ahead in this area since you have to compete with MCAs and BTech(CS) applicants. So choose your internship/ industrial training very carefully. Do not just go for the cheapest to save money. See the IT company's credentials on the net. for example if someone provide LIVE PROJECTS are they there near the TOP on PORTALS like JUSTDIAL? Or if the company is reg

Hi Meenakshi,
You can post another question if you have more queries. Well CPMT is only for the medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Whereas AIPMT is All India Pre Medical Test. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in several medical colleges around the country.
So I think AIPMT will give you more college options. Also I suggest if you are preparing for any one you can appear in both exams.
Hope this helps. All the best.
