Criteria for becoming a Solicitor:
-XII (any subject)followed by BA LL.B a 5 year course in Law Selection to the best institutes is through a rigorous selection process.
-Graduation followed by LL.B 3 year course. LL.B course is conducted by most universities and their affiliated colleges in India. The degree entitles the graduates to practice law.
-After LLB- full time post graduation (LLM) of 2 years duration or diploma courses of 1 year duration can be pursued. There are several branches of specialization to choose from.

Only the Bachelor’s degree holders in architecture (B.Arch.) are eligible for admission to the Master’s program in the discipline. However, the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi-110002, provides specialization options for meritorious civil engineering graduates in its M.Arch. program and related fields.
The school conducts the two-year M.Arch. program with specialization in architecture conservation, industrial design and urban design; Master of building engineering and management program (MBEM); Master of landscape architecture (MLA) and Master of planning course with specialization in environment planning, housing, regional planning and transport planning.
The M.Arch. program are open to those with B.Arch. degrees, B.Planning or equivalent degrees. For M.Arch. in industrial design, students with B.Arch. or equivalent degrees are eligible.
The MBEM course is open to those with B.Arch., B.E./B.Tech. (civil) or equivalent degrees.Applicants should have obtained at least 55 per cent marks in aggregate in the qualifying examinations. SC/ST students need only 50 per cent marks. Selection is based on a test and interview.
Those who have valid GATE scores or have passed the UGC’s National Eligibility Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship are eligible for a monthly scholarship. The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee ( www.iitr.ernet.in.) conducts M.Arch. in urban and rural planning. B.Arch. or Bachelor’s degree holders in civil engineering are eligible for admission.
The Government College of Engineering, Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram, conducts an M.Arch. course with planning (housing) as a specialization. Five seats are available in the general category. Those with B.Tech. in civil engineering will be considered for admission. The Council of Architecture is a statutory regulatory body which deals with education in this field and any details regarding courses can be sought from it. The council is located at the Indian Habitat Center, Lodhi Road, New Delhi
Alternative routes
The Indian Institute of Architects provides facilities for civil engineering graduates to appear for its membership examinations. They are exempted from appearing in some subjects and papers of the examinations.The Institute of Town Planners conducts an associateship examination leading to the award of the associate membership of the institute.

M. Tech Structural Engineering with specialization in offshore structures- Structural engineers are specialists in design, construction, repair, conversion and conservation. They are concerned with all aspects of a structure and its stability. But M. Tech Structural Engineering with specialization in offshore structures deals with offshore design, construction, procurement, transportation, installation of the structures subjected to marine environments.
