IIIT's are built for excelling in the field of information technology, so it consists of only IT and CSE, its substitutes and electronics and communications engineering, whereas other engineering colleges have many more specialisations. IIITs have a edge over other engineering colleges as far as their curriculum is concerned. There is no need to study all the basic subjects like chemistry, drawing, metallurgy, etc. in the first year in IIITs and can directly jump to the subjects of interest. This results in providing better knowledge in the areas of specializations, resulting in top-notch students and hence, they get better

Especially in research field like Biotechnology and life science you would get good opportunities after master and PhD level. You won't get many opportunities after B.Sc or B.Tech degree. Especially in India this field don't have good salary structure .Either you need to get few years of experience abroad then settle in India.
