You can definitely pursue a career in the Banking sector after graduation!
Here are some qualifications/institutions that you can have a look at to make a career in the Banking sector:-
1) Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) or a Diploma in Banking & Finance offered by the "Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF)" - www.iibf.org.in
2) Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Operations (PGDBO) offered by the "Institute of Finance, Banking & Insurance (IFBI) - a JV between NIIT & ICICI Bank" - http://www.ifbi.com/program.aspx
3) CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification program offered by the Financial Planning Standards Board India - www.fpsbindia.org
4) Alternatively, if you wish to apply for the various banking exams that come up in the newspaper, you can enrol yourself with "National School of Banking (NSB)" to prepare you for the same - www.nsbindia.net (If you intend to get into a "Public Sector Bank")
Kindly note that:- Most individuals, look at the Banking sector as a:-
- Stable,
- Prestigious,
- "Non Sales",
- "Non target" oriented jobs!
This scenario was true in the 90's, before the banking sector was opened up for Private players! If you land up in any of the private sector banks (e.g. Yes Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank etc), "Sales" is a part & parcel of your job - whether you are in the Back Office or Front Office! Be mentally prepared for the same!
