If you want to get into database development which is a backend process you can go for oracle program but remember that oracle is a database management system which is not used by all the companies so if you are looking for a backend process of Database development work in the organizations using oracle you can go ahead and learn oracle.
I would like to add here that a new version of Oracle Database Management System is coming up i.e. Oracle 11i so I would suggest you to get the maximum return on investment you should go for a latest version of Oracle.
