First of all, Marine Engineering and Merchant Navy are two different sectors.

To help you, below is the eligibility criteria for your desired courses.
a) Eligibility ---> Marine Engineering :
** You must complete the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII.
** You must clear detailed physical fitness and medical standards to qualify for admission.
b) Eligibility ---> Merchant Navy :
** You require, plus two (PCM) with 1 year pre-sea training as a deck cadet.
** After completing B.Sc.(Nautical Science) in the officer cadre, it will lead you to become captain after 5-7 years of experience.
** You can also join it directly after B.Tech in Marine Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication, Naval Architect.

*** If you wish to pursue Biotechnology in Zoology and Chemistry, then you must have a background in Science (Physics or Agriculture, Chemistry and Biology) at the intermediate level.
*** Some universities offer B.Sc biotechnology which you can join after class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
*** Graduates in all sciences / engineering technology / medicine are eligible for the postgraduate (M.Sc.) course in biotechnology.
