Hello Fathima If you look at the pattern, Science students have majority in clearing UPSC exams. This is mainly because they become habitual of studying with patience and undertaking huge syllabi pressure. However, students taking up humanities (arts) subjects also succeed. Having history, political Science, geography etc. In school, and then doing graduation in any of these subjects helps a lot. Yes, you might be able to get civil in the main campus but not in the first round of counselling. You should get it in the later rounds, though.

Here is the State wise list of Castes that come under OBC category (CENTRAL),. If you do not send a valid OBC-NCL certificate, you will be considered under the General category. From April 2012, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes-Minorities (SEBC-M) isan additional category under OBC-NCL. So, this will be considered.

It depends on how receptive you are to it. It is however, the number one arts and Science College in India. They go up to the level of Ph.D and specialize in the Films and Semiconductors. so on and so forth, if you want the department to be good to you, you must too be good in return to it. Re-iterating, it depends on how open you are to receive from others.
