Biotechnology is a rapidly developing field. Many private businesses are exploring this field and heavily investing in it. It is safe to say that there are ample job opportunities for B.E./B.Tech. Biotechnology Graduates in private sector. Government sector too offers job opportunities, but not in the scale in which private sector does. Average starting salary is generally between 2.4 to 5 Lakh Rupees per year.
Some prominent industries where Biotechnology professionals may find jobs are- Pharmaceuticals Industry, Healthcare sector, Chemical Industry, Agriculture sector, Food Processing and Technology as well as Research sector. Graduates may also take up teaching job (as lecturer) after completing M.E./M.Tech. program.

After a BTech degree, students can find jobs in pharmaceutical companies, research labs and institutions in India. Also, core companies only hire students from universities such as IITs, NITs etc. If your university is not reputed nationally or state wise, chances of any biotech or pharmaceutical company coming for placements sessions will be close to nil.
