The aviation industry is witnessing lot of changes. The job of Commercial pilot is one of the most prestigious and glamorous jobs in India. The expansion in the aviation industry has resulted in many career avenues as well. This is a lucrative field which requires high end training. The need for people in this field is those who enjoy taking challenges.
As far as the job of a commercial pilot is concerned, it involves lot of responsibility. Pilots are highly trained professionals in this area. This area of job is highly specialized as it involves specialized knowledge in fields such as Aircraft management and Air navigation. Knowledge in the areas like meteorological report interpretation, and overall landing of the aircraft under emergency situations is also a must if an aspirant wants to have a successful career in this field.
To become a Commercial Pilot a Commercial Pilot License is important. Since the number of Flights operating in India is high, the demand for the same is high and is also highly remunerative.
It is not an easy task to get a CPL. Even though there are institutes which offer this, the number of these institutes does not meet up the demands of the aviation sector as a whole.
The job prospects in this section are immense with the advent of privatization in this industry. The job opportunities exist in both the government as well as private sectors. Major opportunities come up regularly in Government owned airlines, international and as well as private airlines. They have opportunity also where in large business houses have their own aircrafts.
As already mentioned, it is difficult to secure a CPL because of the regulations which are prevalent in this industry.

The first stage is to work as a trainee
Thereafter one may be promoted to First officer

Ample amounts of job opportunities are available in front of Graduates in Government as well as Private sectors. Competition for job posts is less, since there are relatively lesser number of Colleges offering this course and thus lesser number of students pursuing it. Thus, landing a good job is relatively easy, when it comes to Food Processing and Technology field.
Talking about Government sector, the Department of Food and Public Distribution is a well known recruiter. Within that Government agency, posts like Food Inspector, Quality Assurance Officers etc are available. State sponsored Food processing plants also are known to hire graduates.
The Private sector chips in with much more opportunities. Private Food Production firms, Processing plants, Storage and Preservation firms etc are known to recruit Graduates. Firms manufacturing Food Processing equipment and machinery also recruit graduates. Average starting salary varies, depending upon the nature of the job (Government, Private or own venture). On an average, it is between 2.5-4 Lakh Rupees per year.
