Complete your 10+2 with very good grades, a upper first class is required. Take the SAT and the TOEFL. Take part in extra curricular activities, literary work, project work related to mass comm etc and build a strong profile. Different universities would be having different admission requirements. You have to check the university websites for specific requirements and apply before the deadlines.

It is a good question. Now let me tell the difference between these three.
1) Autonomous colleges are the ones which are affiliated to a university so that they could admit the students via the admission procedures as per the university to which they are affiliated. The main thing is that autonomous colleges follow their own syllabus which may or may not be better than the main university.
But they receive the certificates from the main university only.
2) Affiliated colleges are those which have the same admission procedure but follow the same syllabus as per the university to which they are affiliated.

The exact date of the commencement of Anna University's counseling is still unknown. You need to refer: www.annauniv.edu and www.tnea.ac.in for the official updates.
Your cut-off is not upto the mark for a BC candidate as they require high cut-off marks.
