for this purpose first of all u have to choose ur career path. will u want to change ur path from S/W sector to Management sector or u want to keep ur path in S/W sector. then u decide what ever u want? then proceed with that. for MBA u have to appear CAT, XAT, MAT exams. Thnx

Choose your specialization subject either on the basis of your graduation subjects or on the basis of what you want to do in your career i.e. which stream you want to follow or on the basis of what things come to you more easily. Specialization in Finance is good but your career would be restricted if you do not have the flair for finance or if you did not have finance related subject at your graduation level. Marketing has more avenues compared to finance.

congrats.mr deepraj it's good that u had scored 99.7 in MAT 2011 but u had not mentioned what u have scored in GATE 2011. also u have not mentioned what is ur Branch in ur degree course. i'll suggest u that if u got some good management college then u can proceed with MBA otherwise u can go with MTECH where u are eligible fo rgetting a stipend of RS- 8000/- per month and it's 12000/ in some NIT'S/ IIT's also. next u have to choose what to do? thnx.

Hi Tejas,
As every individual is different with its own set of capabilities, the preparation time period would differ from person to person. I would say CAT being the India's toughest Management exam with no set pattern would require more focus & preparation so, an average student generally take 6 months to year to prepare for CAT and similar Entrance Examination. If you are planning to do self study it can be even more time consuming so the sooner you start the better it would be for you.
As far as the MBA colleges in Mumbai are concerned you should look at the government colleges like Mumbai University's JBIMS etc.
