Since it's February and I presume your board exams are sometime in April, I think the best way to go around is to first make sure you've understood the chapters by answering the previous examinations' papers. If you score above, say, 80% consistently in these, you can rest assured of a comparable score in your boards, provided you maintain this consistency.

Even though the minimum requirement by most universities in 6.5 band score with a minimum score of 6 in each section, i believe your score would be considered because you have scored 5.5 in just 1 section. Therefore, it should not really be a problem for you as far as IELTS eligibility is concerned. Don't worry. Apply without fear :)
