Any sort of engineering may it be mechanical or any engineering from any discipline is facing huge competition now-a-days in India, due to flood of candidates pursuing B.Tech from rural to urban colleges. It might not be completely true to say that most of the mechanical engineers are unemployed, but low-wage hiring system is prevalent, because of high number of candidates and promotion and growth rate has slowed down extremely. Placements of Ops are good as batch is generally small. About only 20 people out of 181 (for MMS) opt for operations. 80-90% people get placed every year with average package of 4-5L which increases as per experience.
