If this is your rank in JEE Advanced under general category then you can get mechanical engineering in an IIT. You may not get IIT Bombay, Madras, etc. but you may get Mandi, Jammu, etc.
These are also good IITs and they are better to study.
BITS Pilani is really costly so if you get any IIT then drop BITS Pilani. If you can take loan and if you don't want an average IIT then go for BITS Pilani.
For previous year opening and closing ranks refer:

Dev Bhoomi Institute of Technology is one of the most reputed and pioneer Institutions and it is the third top Engineering College in Dehradun. DBIT Infrastructure is not so good as compare to others colleges but it is best in making careers. Graphic era is also good option for engineering. The infrastructure is really good and the placements are also good. This year the placements were better than the previous year but the fee structure is quite expensive. So you can decide accordingly which one you want to go for.

Hi,
The best way to predict a college through JEE Mains score is to use shiksha's college predictor app. After that just go for the counselling of that college. You may also choose private colleges like BITS Pilani, SRM, VIT, SKIT-Jaipur, Galgotia, Sharda, LPU, NIRMA, etc.

I don't think so that will be a problem. Mass communication is a new and a different subject. One starts learning from the day 1 whether you are from a science background, commerce or humanities background it doesn't matter.
