For sure to qualify the SSB selection, you need to qualify all the levels from the test conducted by the UPSC to the medical standards. There is no such thumb rule to be followed to get 100% selection option, but it will depend on your hard work, the strategy that you take up to study for the exam, reference and study material collection etc.

Being a B.Tech Student you must be having Science background so; you can choose subjects like Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, physics etc.
However, few of the combinations not allowed by UPSC are:
Political Science & International relations and Public Administration
Commerce & Accountancy and Management
Anthropology and Sociology
Mathematics and Statistics
Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science

Any two branches of engineering
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
Combination if two Literatures

I do not see there a problem as long as you are able to pursue a degree course from a recognized institute, but even if it does, you can write the paper through the private mode and based on which then seek admissions.
