National Post Graduate College was established in capital of UP by the intervention of the then CM of UP in the year 1974. Since then college has come a long way to establish itself as an institute of learning amongst large number of other colleges in the city. Though initially it began as post graduate institute but today it offers degrees, diplomas and certificate courses in diverse fields. This institution was given status of Autonomous institute along with tag of 'College with Potential for Excellence'. On the other hand Isabella Thoburn College began its innings as a school for girls in one room for seven girl's way back in year 1870. Slowly but steadily it kept on shifting to bigger and bigger buildings before settling in present location. This exclusive college for women was attached to Calcutta University initially but then shifted to Lucknow University when it was formed. This college boasts of great history and big line of alumni's. Even today the college is famous for dedicated faculty.To conclude, I would say that both colleges are having best of the faculty. But those girl students desirous of studying in only girl's college can seek admission here while those for boys and those girls who don't mind studying joining a co-ed institute can seek admission in National PG institute.

I would suggest you to go to Hindu College for humanities courses whether it's political science or any other course. Being a north campus college, Hindu offers a student everything that he/she requires to excel in one's field. The faculty consists of some of the best professors who have completed their studies from abroad so you can expect a top class study atmosphere in Hindu College. Apart from political science, it also offers humanities courses like English (Hons.), Phil. (Hons.), History (Hons.) etc. The cut-offs are relatively high in Hindu College than Gargi so it's pretty hard to get in but once you get in, you will truly come out as a brighter and better person. The library of Hindu is one of the best in Delhi University as it contains thousands of books on various topics. Even if you don't want to buy your course books, you can always find them in the library. Being a Hinduite, I can proudly say that Hindu is by far the best college of Delhi University for Humanities courses!

Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharmendra or GGDSD College was established in Chandigarh in the eighties of last century. This is a co-ed college which offered numerable courses in all the three branches viz. humanities, science and commerce. The college is affiliated to Punjab University. This college has great reputation in the city of Chandigarh as well as whole of North India as center of excellence. On the other hand PG Government College for Girls was formed in 1956. It is situated in sector 11 of Chandigarh and is affiliated to Panjab University. This institute provides excellent facilities of academics as well as extracurricular activities to its girl students. Their production was a creative fusion of hip hop and contemporary styles of dance.
3. NAZAAKAT-The Folk Dance society of Gargi College: Nazaakats production was a mixture of resonating ghungroos and vibrant costumes. Through their elaborate choreography and expressions, they portrayed the tradition of worshipping Lord Krishna.
4. LSR WMS-The Western Choir of Lady Shri Ram College: LSR WMSs winning piece was a creative and melodious one. It was a fusion of two different genres of music- jazz and R&B. Their piece was a medley of two songs, Misty by the Real Group and Jailer by Asa.
5. PIXELS- The Photography Society of Hans Raj College: Pixels is one of the most prominent societies in DU. It was the first society in DU to ever host a photography exhibition in Indian Habitat Centre. The Young Minds was a three-day photography exhibition held in February where various artists presented their marvelous and inspiring work.
6. GALORE-The Fashion Society of Maitreyi College: Galores production aimed to enlighten people on the issue of hunting and poaching of tigers. They wanted people to protect this elegant animal and help in preventing its extinction. The society takes pride in the fact that their costumes are made by the society members within the college premises.

The debating societies in DU ensure this personality enrichment and exposure in numerous ways, one of the most popular being, the outstation competitions. Participants are sent to college fests all over the country, where they get a chance to dabble in various formats of debating. Kashish Minocha, president of the English Debating Society of Sri Venkateswara College, says, Outstation events, especially in colleges of south India, are very important as each one has its own specialty. These events also act as ice-breakers for freshers, and help them foster relationships with the seniors.
Not only do the students excel at public speaking, but they are also better prepared at handling tough situations in life. It involves a lot of reading and learning. This added knowledge also helps us write exams, says Harshita Madan, member of QED, the debating society of Gargi College.
