To join Merchant Navy, you require plus two (PCM) with 1 year pre-sea training as a deck cadet.
If you pursue B.Sc.(Nautical Science) in the officer cadre, it will lead you to become captain after 5-7 years of experience.

1. Shortlist the university where you wish to pursue Phd.
2. Then contact the admission department of these shortlisted universities.
3. Request them to give you detailed information regarding eligibility for pursuing Phd.

As a lawyer you need to clear LLB (3year or 5year) degree course and then get yourself registered with State Bar Council of your residence or where you need to do practice. The State Bar Council is located at the High court of every state.
If you want to join some concern / to be a Legal Advisor of firm you'll have to do same, then you'll need some practice also as experience.
