Hi Ms Hema, Electrical and Electronics is quite different from Automotive Engg which is generally easier to understand for students with a mechanical engineering background. Electrical and Electronics Engg also has a good scope so may be he could look for some courses int his field. If not, then after identifying a few Unviersities that offer Automotive ENginnering, you or he could e mail them and find out if the University would accept him as a student or not.

One of the only and most popular institute for M.Tech in Health, Safety & Environment is UPES, to be eligible for this programme a candidate needs to have 60% and above aggregate marks in B.E/ B.Tech or M.Sc in Environmental Science/ Organic Technology. However, if you want to get into Environmental Engineering programme few of the Institutes which you may check: IIT (Kanpur & Kharagpur) Indian School of Mines, University of Roorkee, and DCE etc.

Hi Christopher,
As you have not got a very high rank , it would be difficult to get into one of the top IITs, however on the basis of last year's cut offs few of the branches which you may try are: Design in IIT Guwahati, Architecture in IIT Kharagpur & Roorkee, Pulp & Paper Engineering in IIT Roorkee, Minning in IIT Varanasi etc. As current years cutoffs are still not available it would be difficult to give you the most updated information.

Hi Bala,
Different Universities will have different admission procedure for Lateral Entry students. Few of the Institutes like Jaypee, IIT etc. will take entry through AIEEE or IITJEE in case of IITs, in such cases there is no different Exam date, whereas the Institutes which take a separate Examination for Lateral Entry students may have a separate Exam Date.
