To join merchant navy in India, you may do the following:
1.Pursue Marine Engineering after +2, to join the engineering department of merchant navy.
The course is offered by Marine Engineering and Research Institute-Kolkata.
2.Pursue Nautical Science after +2, to join the navigation department. The course is offered by T.S.Chanakya, Mumbai.
To pursue these courses, you will have to qualify Join Entrance Exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology.
You may also join merchant navy as Deck Cadet directly after +2 or as Junior Engineer after completion of bachelors degree program in engineering.
