Hi Antony,
I would say for preparation of XAT there is no one set of books which you can consult. You can prepare through various tests prep books available in the market such as R.S. Aggarwal, Galgotias, and Meenakshi & Arun Sharma. For quantitative ability & logical reasoning section you should start going through the NCERT Books of class 9-12. For Verbal ability I would say, you can purchase Wren and Marten & a good dictionary would to start your preparations. You should study good intermediate level text books on different subjects which will help you in Passage section of verbal ability. For General Knowledge section in XAT, read N
