Priya.FDI refers to Foreign Direct Investment. For example, Ford Motors have invested in India by opening factories in Tamilnadu and Gujarat. They have full control over the business and technology as this is a long term investment. On the other hand, FPI refers to Foreign Portfolio Investment. For example, an investment bank in a foreign country may invest on stocks, bonds and other financial assets in India on a short term basis. FPI has no control over the day-to-day running of the organisation they are investing in by buying its shares. There is a 10% limit on investment. Give me a thumbs up if I had answered your question.
