As every individual is different so is his/her capabilities, so keeping in mind your strengths and weaknesses you should start working towards your goal. As CAT is a tough nut to crack generally it takes a year to prepare for it but depending on individuals capability the time duration may vary. In case you want to begin your preparation at an early stages you can start with NCERT books from 9th till 12th level to clear your quant concepts and apart from that for verbal you should start reading newspaper and novels and start listening to English News channels as this will help you in getting hold on your reading and verbal skills.
Apart from this I would also suggest you to join a coaching Institute in 3rd year of your graduation which helps you to great extent to judge your strengths and weaknesses and help you getting good score. For more information please check the links below:
