Hi Amit, as per your query I would say that the best time to start preparation is at the beginning of 11th class. Students are fresh after the break after boards and a lot more can be learn. Start revising your basic concepts. Regular hours should be allotted to mastering concepts and problem-solving.Try to understand the problem again and find clues that can lead you to solution. Go through the concepts related to the problem once again and see how they can be applied to the problem in hand. Try to be analytical rather than being intuitive. Consult the solution, only when you have exhausted your limits. Never use calculator while preparing for the exam. Being adept in mental calculations can actually increase your speed to a great extent. An other very important aspect of your preparation will be the coaching institute, which will help and guide you through out the preparation process. I am sending you link.

As PhD is a research based programme which would require you to work under the professors and be in continues touch with them so, it becomes difficult to do such a program through correspondence and that is the reason why, there are not many Universities which provide PhD through Distance education. Another thing which I would like to add here is that some time back UGC had banned degrees like M.Phil & PhD through correspondence, so it would be better that you plan PhD through regular
However, few of the Universities which may give you PhD through Distance Education are: IGNOU, Kota Open University, Pondicherry University, YCMOU
I would again stress upon the fact that it would not be worth to join a correspondence PhD still if you want to go ahead do confirm the facts before you join. Another option, as suggested by Neeraj, can be Part time PhD.
