Which course is more beneficial among MBA and M.Tech after completing B.Tech in mechanical engineering?
-
Kandarp, if you are more of a technical person, then I'll recommend you to go for M.Tech degree. But, if you just want to get out of mechanical engineering, then go for MBA. I'd like to tell you that you must go for M.Tech because as a technical person, you shall not waste all your B.Tech studies by doing MBA and getting a desk job. There are a lot of opportunities for mechanical engineers. It's a core branch. Core branches are evergreen.

7 years agoKindly choose the course according to your interest. If you have much interest in technology then doing M.Tech from IIT /IISc/NIT is a better option. You can also do MBA in industrial management from a good college. But if you want to change your path from the technical stream then you can prepare for some exams like CAT /XAT, etc., for doing MBA in the stream of your interest. If you want to earn more then doing MBA in industrial management or marketing or hospital management is a better option. -
Hello,
If you are ready to earn more along with its inevitable risk, then surely go for MBA since a person with technical knowledge and a unique idea can launch his/her startup although there is a lot of uncertainty in it in terms of monetary rewards which are usually extreme. On the other hand, M.Tech is comparatively a bit safer option since one can still have certain job options but the salary here is usually fixed with arithmetic increments unlike extreme profits and losses in businesses. -
Hello, a student from Science background is eligible for MBA. The course provides knowledge about management. Science students find the course syllabus a little hard due to lack of commerce knowledge but with hard work anyone can overcome difficulties. Since you have technical skills from B.Tech, I will suggest you to go for MBA because management knowledge will add another feather to your cap. Preferably, you should make the choice on the basis of your career goals, capabilities and interests. In case you want to continue your career in technical field, then M.Tech is the right choice for you. After this you can even switch to research or teaching. But if you want to work in the corporate sector, then MBA is the way to go. It is a management course and hence would enhance your managerial, leadership presentation and communication skills etc.

I've had a really good experience with the mechanical engineering faculty at Chandigarh University. Most of them are PhD holders, so you can tell they know their subject inside out. What I like is that they're not just teaching from books—they share real-world examples, guide us in labs, and help with projects. The faculty is approachable, so if you ever get stuck on something, you can just ask, and they'll explain patiently. They also encourage students to explore electives like Thermal & Energy Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, or Design & Robotics, and help you pick what suits your career goals.

Yes, Chandigarh University is a good choice for B.E. in Mechanical Engineering. What I really like about the programme is the variety of specializations you can pick, like Thermal & Energy, Industrial Manufacturing & Management, or Automation & Robotics. The labs are another strong point from 3D printing and advanced welding labs to industry-backed centres by Honda, Mahindra, Hyundai, and MG Motors. These collaborations give you hands-on exposure that feels very close to real-world industry work. On top of that, the department is both ABET and NBA accredited, which adds global recognition.
