Since you have already completed your 12th you need not pursue another diploma. For better prospects I will suggest for Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science which is of four years . Note there is no B.Tech in Canada.

If we compare both the institutions on the basis of studies, faculty, quality if education and placements, I would totally recommend you vit Vellore over thapar university. Teachers in vit Vellore are exceptionally good and also you can choose your own teacher which is the best part
In terms of placement: thapar is above VIT. COLLEGES OF SIMILAR LEVEL CAN ONLY BE COMPARED WITH EACH OTHER. The highest salary package offered was 43 LPA, and the average salary package offered was 11 LPA. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is better than VIT.
