Firstly I want to tell you that the subject you selected for UGC NET must be selected on basis of your potential. Choose the subject according to your interest this will help you to clear all subjects as good and not to feel regret after selected suggestive subjects. And other thing is eligibility for UGC NET
You must be completed your post graduation at least 55%. NET subjects are:-
1. Political Science
2. Social work
3. Economics
4. Philosophy
5. Management
6. History
7. Sociology.

Yes, you can though they will ask you to provide a personal statement justifying your interest and knowledge and career plans in the desired field. You should also check the entry requirements on the university websites.
