You can't really judge the NIFT centres because all the centres follow the same syllabus and system. All of their faculty members and the staff is highly qualified. Yes, the infrastructure of centres like New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore is much better than the centres like Raebareli, Srinagar and Jodhpur. Also, all the resources and exposure one gets at NIFT-Delhi is much more than what you get at those small centres, but not because those small centers don't provide their students anything, but it's because Delhi is a metropolitan city and there are fabric and material markets like Nehru Place, Lajpat Nagar, Chandni Chowk, Palam, etc., and one can easily go out for market research and sourcing and also there is Amazon Fashion Week, Indian Couture Week, where students can go and look for the latest designers collection.
The complete education doesn't depend on all these things, it's just a part of design education and it all depends on the student that how much they are keen about learning things because of many a times students from the small centres for the better placements than the Delhi or Mumbai centre students, but on an average, more people of NIFT-Delhi, Bangalore or Mumbai get better placement offers than the other centers, not because they are more talented, but because the industry has the wrong thinking about the NIFT centers.
Anyways, it's better if you get a seat at NIFT-Delhi centre.

Since fashion designing is a vast field, one needs a skill set to survive in the industry otherwise it's too tough. But, the skill requirements also depends on the person's job profile or the company he/she are working with. Anyways, I am listing down a set of skills which you need to be good in:
1 - Communication skills, because no one knows how good are you at your work, or how creative ideas you have in your mind, until and unless you will explain them in words. And, it is better if you also know some other foreign languages like - French, Italian, German, Spanish etc.
2 - Pattern making knowledge (basics at least), so that you can have a rough idea about the fabric consumption of your designed garment, or the garment you designed on paper is possible to make or not. It will also help you in developing and designing new and creative silhouettes.
3 - Drawing skills, even if you are not good with your hand, I will suggest you to develop it. You won't have a desktop in front of you always. And, it is necessary to explain your ideas or design to someone in drawing or illustration form. You will always have an upper hand, if you are good at sketching.
4 - Softwares like Adobe Photoshop (Ps), Adobe core draw, Adobe illustrator (Ai), Adobe InDesign (Id) etc. And it's always good, if you know more.
5 – You should know about the different textiles and weaves (especially Indian textiles).

Things that you are and are not comfortable with may be checked. 5. If you carry something to show to them (like a model or drawings or anything at all), questions/discussions will arise from them. A. What inspired you to make this? B. Whats the story? C. What medium did you use? D. How did you learn to make this? 5. What did it cost? Most of all, it's a discussion process more than just questions and answers. Don't forget to be honest and comfortable and make sure you enjoy yourself.
