There is a huge growth in CSE today and everything is covered by CS. So, you can opt for CS in SRM-Chennai. But, everything depends on your interest, so if you have an interest in programming, then you can opt for this field.

I would have chosen CSE in SRM, Chennai over LPU Thapar University, because SRM is one of the reputed universities in India with good number of companies visiting for recruitment. It is also one of the top ranked institute in India with availability of all basic facilities and amenities placements are also the best as compare to LPU. MNC do visit in SRM for campus recruitment and they do offers best packages for students.

All the above-mentioned universities are private hence costs a l'il bit high as compared to others. In comparison to these universities, SRM University (Main Campus) is a better choice. But when you'll get feedback from friends who are studying in LPU or Thapar University has a common statement "Infrastructure is good, academics not good". So, this my opinion.

All these institutes are private universities & are not under control of AICTE. B.Tech course should be approved from AICTE. I advise you to explore more colleges for B.Tech CSE.

Thapar is the best choice according to me. SRM is another better choice for CSE if you don't get Thapar. LPU is not a good option for you to pursue engineering.
