6 years agoNo, it is not. In fact, CAT is the most inflexible and random exam you can take. If you are not a good test taker, you will struggle to get into a decent college through CAT. You just get ONE SHOT at the exam each year. If you cant hold your nerves, you will have wait another year to find out if you can hit that 99. percentile score. If you are experienced or if you have a good overall profile, consider taking GMAT/GRE. These exams are much more predictable and flexible. You don't have to wait for an entire year to retake these. Either CAT/MAT/CMAT is considered so give all of them. Also, a good percentage is needed. GDPI performance is a key factor in the best schools.

No, CAT is the desire which an individual thrive to get into IIMs across the country which are the best premier institutes for MBA. Apart from the CAT, it is not mandatory but still it has upper edge over others.
There are other exams like XAT, MAT, SNAP, MH-CET, NMAT, etc. through which you can get best B-Schools.
