Hi,
There are two possible scenarios here when you are talking about the 'average' student. First one is the average guy who walks into the corridor of a premier B-School but utilizes every opportunity that the institute provides and transforms himself into an extraordinary guy. The second one is any guy who does not so well but also not so bad at the B-school. Now, in comparison with his peers, he is 'average'. So probably he gets placed in a Day 4/5 company. That is the end of his being average because the corporate world is whole another game.
What one has done in the B-School has very little to do with how one performs in the indust

Hello Surekha,
From software development to textile and fabric, a complete contrast, only a strong SOP and a good portfolio can do good. Talk with some university admission officers too. MS courses, of course, can be done in a different field, however, it's all on how you project your interest.

There are many well-paid positions out there that might seem very handsome at the time. It is hard to maintain your rich lifestyle on a student loan, but you have to be honest with yourself; are you pursuing this role because it is genuinely something you are excited about or simply because it pays well? At this moment in time, a high salary might seem interesting but because you are pursuing this specific role you are automatically losing all the other roles that you might be more adapted for and ones that might be more profitable to you and could improve your skill set. You will have time to make money, now take this opportunity to d

Well, CV doesn't have points, it always carries weight. How strong your CV is and how capable you are. The most important thing which will be considered during your placements is your CGPA. Companies will shortlist mostly on the basis of CGPA. There have been times when the list of shortlisted candidates for some of the best firms consisted top 10-20 rank holders of the college (literally). After CGPA, they will check for relevant internships. So, make sure that you do at least one or two inter

Yes, you can surely apply for an IIM even you have rejected a previous offer. There are people who do get selected in newer IIMs but they apply again to get into top IIMs. The shortlists are based on CAT score and profile and the number of attempts are not considered. Normally, during the interview process as well, the interviewers do not ask about whether you were selected last time. If they do, then you can give a valid reason for your choice and make them understand the opportunity cost of your decision. If you wanted to have work experience before joining IIM, then you can justify your choice. Having said that, you should really th

Hello,
IIM's are still in the phase of earning a recognition for their 1-year program. I would rank ISB as the top most choice for the same. It is ranked under top 30 colleges for doing MBA from around the world. The program, course structure, faculty and post-MBA placements are excellent in ISB and have been a threat to all major IIM's one year MBA programs.
While getting into ISB's one year program is extremely difficult, it is comparatively easy to get into EPGP of IIM B. The second choice would be SP Jain. While ISB is pretty much ahead of SP Jain with respect to the above parameters, SP Jain is slowly catching up with the top colleg
