Yes, after doing Diploma engineering, you are eligible to take admission in engineering college except for IITs & NITs.
There are a lot of good colleges available for you it will be better or easy for you if you will take admission in your home state college because at the time of counseling of engineering for Diploma student, some state universities ask for domicile of that state. Rest some universities like IPU provide 15% seats for outsiders of Delhi student.
Good engineering college in are Graphic Era University, DIT-Dehradun, LPU-Punjab, Chandigarh University-CGC Landram, COT-Pantnagar, IP University-Delhi, etc.

So let's take a look at the available options.
To be honest, I would say go for top private universities over lower-ranking NITs. But how low the rank can be.
I would suggest NITs as around 5th or 6th rank can be considered safe over the private universities.
But below this rank give preference to private universities.
Consider one more practical options. I would suggest after top 5 NITs, go for top government colleges in your state. This college would generally be better than private universities.
For example, in Maharashtra, you can go for College of Engineering, Pune or VJTI

If placement is the parameter for judging the college, it is poor.
Some of the companies that show up during the placement drive for recruiting computer engineers in the college are:
Siemens. Tata Technologies, ICFAI University, BASF, Patni Computers, Bharat Forge Limited and Nihilent Technologies.
The college provides an average placement package of around 2.5 LPA which was seen in the year 2016 for Computer Science Students. Hence I would advise you not to take admission in this college
